Asia Trip Day 6

A statue in a Chinese temple courtyard representing the Year of the Tiger.

Red paper lanterns dancing in the Malaysian sky.

The cauldron where you place four burning joss sticks as an offering.

Taylor reads his fortune.

To get your fortune, you repeatedly drop the numbered sticks until only one protrudes.

Those who know me will not be surprised that I drew #23.

After you draw your number, you open the corresponding numbered drawer and retrieve your fortune.

Apparently I am lost at sea, but I'll have a successful marriage if given a chance.

Supplicant.

The shrine.

The turtle grotto behind the temple.

Taylor gets fish spa therapy where toothless fish nibble away the dead skin on your feet.

The fish spa is 3 feet deep maximum, is this sign necessary?

Some Photos from My Asia Trip Days 1-4

Hong Kong: Trip Day 1

The Hong Kong Ramada, where we stayed our first night and will be staying next week.

Kuala Lumpur: Trip Day 2

A nightview of the Castle Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur from my window.

Kuala Lumpur: Trip Day 3

A delicious mango lassi and paper dosa.

Phillip and Taylor in the restaurant -- they really aren't as grumpy as they look.

Some views of Merdeka Square and the city's canal.

Koi pond outside the KL Bird Park.

Phinny!!!

Taylor said this bird reminded him of his mother. I felt that comment couldn't go unrepeated.

Angry owl.

Feeding time.

Suffer the little birdies unto me.

Over Taylor's shoulder as he juggled exotic birds.

An exotic cricket.

The view from behind the waterfall.

From before.

Bathing time.

Kuala Lumpur: Trip Day 4

Batu Caves -- or, as I like to call them, Phony Shrineland. (This statue is less than 20 years old -- this is NOT an ancient shrine, it's an embarrassing explosion of kitsch.)

Monkey eating a banana at Batu Caves.

At the National Mosque.
